this picture is a great example of the difference an adjustment in white balance can make. when I first started editing pictures, and a picture appeared kind of blue-ish like the "before" one here, I would go to the saturation bar in photoshop and turn down the blues and turn up the reds and yellows in an attempt to fix it... but alas, all I did was make people look pale with random pops of color. that's why white balance is so important! it adjusts all the colors at once and doesn't make you desaturate any of the photo. now, I always shoot in auto white balance and adjust it later in ACR (adobe camera raw), but if you want to learn more about white balance in your camera, check out this helpful post (and read everything else on that site because she is so helpful to beginning photographers!).
