sneak peek for anna & chris.

I couldn't love these two amazing people more. you would never know from these pics that it was a cold and windy day! but we braced the weather and got some beautiful pics. :) it was a great day. the couple was married in the LDS oquirrh mountain temple in south jordan, utah.

b&a monday.

I photographed this adorable family back in november. what I love most about this picture is that it is totally candid! helam is just that sweet to his little sister. :) I knew that I HAD to edit this picture but that if I did it would require some cropping. I don't usually crop any photos to square proportions but that's all I could do for this one and I actually love how it turned out! plus a square frame on a wall can add a lot of interest since it's not the norm. I do feel that I've improved in my editing process since then, so if I were to edit this picture today it would probably look a little different, but not too much. you can see the rest of this cute family's photoshoot here.

sneak peek + a picture of ME?!

yes. me! I got to take pictures of my amazing neighbors today. I'm in apartment 98 and they're in apartment 99. :) they just wanted some quick and cute roommate pics before they go their separate ways after finals. all of these girls are so amazing in their own way. I seriously love them to death and we had such a fun time shooting. :) they were so nice as to request a pic with me. it would be fun to make you guess which one I am... but I will be kind tonight. :) I am the blonde in the middle. I hope being able to see a picture of me will somehow make me feel like more of a friend and less of a stranger! can't wait to post the rest of these!

b&a monday.

today I decided to do a b&a of my brother and his fiance! they're getting married on may 14th.. I can't believe it's almost here! I got to take their engagement pictures when I went home for Christmas and it was so fun. lee even proposed for real with the ring during the shoot and surprised carrie. :) you can check out the rest of their engagement pics here.

I also can't forget to give credit to The Pioneer Woman for her free photoshop actions. I love them and use them for every picture I edit. one day I hope to be able to purchase many more but for now these freebies are doing the trick!

it is absolutely killing me that I have to force myself not to edit any more of these until after finals! hoping these three will be enough to tide both you and me over. :) amanda & kyle, you were a photographer's dream.

b&a monday.

alright, I have to admit, I am kind of embarrassed to show you the before picture this time. this whole b&a thing is really humbling for me! but it's good for me. I need the constant motivation to improve so that my befores don't look SO different from my afters.

so, in honor of the snowy/rainy weather that has decided to plague utah the last few days, and in honor of a wedding I get to shoot for 2 amazing people in 19 days (!!), I decided to post a b&a of chris and anna! you can see the rest of their engagement pics here. :)

see the difference a little bit of cropping can make? I also obviously brightened it up a ton - I love bright photos, and the snow helped achieve that look and of course was gooorgeous!

before & after monday!

that sounds like fun, right? :)

one of my favorite photography blogs is that of andee from crave photography. she does this thing called "photoshop friday" where she posts a before and after pic to demonstrate the wonders of photoshop.. and I think that's an awesome idea! plus it'll put more posts on here, and I'm pretty sure this blog could use that. :) I had to give credit to andee for the idea, so check out her blog, but try not to get too sad that I am not that awesome yet, ha! she goes for a more processed look than I do but I still adore her pictures and her ability to use photoshop is iiiiiiincredible. so, here's to the first of many b&a mondays!

this first pic is of jessica. isn't she GORGEOUS? yeah, so photogenic it's crazy. for this I just adjusted levels, added some saturation, soft light, a little bit of brightness.. and bam! a little bit goes a long way. :) of course, the before should look even better than it does, but that is something I'm working on right now - getting better SOOC (straight out of camera) shots. wish me luck as I practice, practice, practice! well.. after finals at least..
